NFL Points
Speech. Every time you compete in a speech round, you are given a rank anywhere from 1 to 5 (1 meaning the best speaker in that round and 5 the farthest away from the best speaker). These ranks are translated into the following number of points:
Debate. Debate rounds work a little differently from speech rounds. Instead of being ranked from 1 to 5 like in speech rounds, you either win or lose in debate.
For every round you win, you earn................ 6 points For every round you lose, you earn.............. 3 points
Congress. Student Congress is very different from either speech or debate. In Congress, each tournament has its own set of rules regarding NFL points. You don’t need to memorize a point system because the people in charge of tournaments assign the points and tell the coaches how many points each student earned. All you need to do is ask Mrs. Brasher after the tournament how many points you earned in order to record them on your NFL sheets. One VERY important thing, though – you absolutely must remember how many schools competed in Congress at the tournament! |
